Transverse Fractures

A transverse fracture is a type of broken bone that occurs when the bone is broken straight across like a clean cut. This usually happens when there is a strong force applied to the bone such as in a fall or an accident. Imagine snapping a stick in half; if you break it straight across that’s similar to a transverse fracture. These fractures can happen in any bone but they are often seen in the long bones of the arms and legs. When someone has a transverse fracture they might feel immediate pain in the area and the bone may look out of place. Sometimes there could be swelling or bruising around the injury.
