Trinbago Knight Riders was one of the original six teams created for the Caribbean Premier League tournament’s inaugural season of 2013. This franchise cricket team of the CPL is based in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and Tobago with Queen’s Park Oval as their home ground. Red Chillies Entertainment, the parent company of Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders purchased a stake in the Trinbago Knight Riders team, known as Trinbago Red Steel at that time. The team won the 2015 series of the CPL tournament and soon after its name was changed to Trinbago Knight Riders.
Trinbago Knight Riders players list for Caribbean Premier League 2021
Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) is going ahead with the CPL 2021 by retaining most of their players for the season. The team is looking forward to successfully defending their title with a strong squad in place that includes young and experienced players from the previous season of 2020. Caribbean pace bowler Ravi Rampaul and Nepalese leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane are among the players to join the Trinbago Knight Riders ahead of the CPL 2021 season.
The all-rounders of Trinbago Knight Riders this season include Sri Lanka’s Isuru Udana, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, and wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin who had joined the Trinidad and Tobago-based CPL franchise after the auction last month.
Kieron Pollard will captain the Trinbago Knight Riders squad, while Colin Munro and Sunil Narine have been retained by the franchise. Their star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was traded to St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots to earn Ramdin’s services in return.
Although the team might miss experienced players like Dwayne Bravo in the Caribbean Premier League 2021, they have hired some reliable players like Jayden Seales, Ali Khan, Ravi Rampaul, and Isuru Udana in their pace attack. Their 2021 squad has some hard-hitters in the batting department, complemented by some brilliant spinners in the bowling department.
Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) won all of their league matches before going on to win the semifinals and the final in the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League, thanks to their strong squad in last year’s competition. In the 2019 season of the Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan’s pacer Muhammad Hasnain proved to be a prolific wicket-taker for Trinbago Knight Riders but had to leave the CPL team after few matches as he was called back by his national team. In 2021 this year, the management of the team is banking upon young Ali Khan to create magic with the ball to increase their chances to win another CPL trophy.
After winning the 2018 Caribbean Premier League edition, Trinbago Knight Riders retained their champion all-rounder and captain Dwayne Bravo in the first round, and another experienced all-rounder Kieron Pollard in the second round. They later retained Sunil Narine in the third round and last season’s leading run-scorer Colin Munro in the fourth round to make the squad stronger for the upcoming season of the CPL tournament.
