Know about the New Changes and Steps to Apply – NEET 2019

NEET is an important examination conducted for seeking admission in MBBS and BDS courses in various reputed institutes across the country. It is a national level examination that is conducted in different cities of India for availing admission to Medical Courses.

From the coming year, the NEET 2019 entrance examination will be conducted by the National Testing Agency or NTA. The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test is all set to be held on May 05, 2019. Following the notification released by NTA, the entrance examination will be held in pen and paper mode for more than 13 lakh candidates. The NEET Application Form is released by NTA to fill them online.

About NEET 2019

The NEET 2019 examination can be taken up by students who have passed their 10+2 examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The aspirants must have completed 17 years of age at the time of examination and not more than 25 years of age. The scores obtained in the examination will be considered for availing admission to top medical colleges like AIIMS and JIPMER.

All the aspirants can fill the application form starting November 01, 2018 and will be available for filling till November 30, 2018. The admit card will be available for download starting April 15, 2019, and the examination will be held on May 05, 2019.

What are the new changes made?

Starting 2019, NEET will be conducted NTA instead of CBSE. With this, a lot of changes were to take place regarding the examination. As per reports, the examination was to be conducted in the Online mode twice a year, however, the MHRD decided the examination will be through the Offline mode that is following the Pen and Paper Mode only once in a year.

As per reports released by NTA, the said changes will be implemented from the year 2020.

How to apply for the examination?

The application forms of the examination are available for filling from November 01, 2018 and will be open till November 30, 2018. Eligible candidates can register for the exam the application form by downloading it from the official website of NTA. The application has to be filled in Online Mode only.

NTA will not accept the application form in any other mode. The process of form filling is mentioned below.

  • Visit the official website of NTA at http://nta.ac.in.
  • Click on the link mentioned “Fill Application Form”
  • Candidates need to register themselves by clicking on the registration form
  • Click on Apply for NEET 2019 button
  • The candidates will be directed towards the page showing the link Download NEET 2019 brochure. Candidates can download the link and read through the instructions necessary for filling the application form.
  • After that Click on “Proceed to Apply Online” button
  • Fill in the mentioned details including personal details, contact information, State of eligibility, identification type, name, date, gender, etc. as per the official documents for identity proofs
  • Review the details mentioned and click on Submit button
  • Filling of Application form
  • Fill in the mentioned details and click on Submit after checking the details
  • Upload the Scanned copy of Photograph and Signature in JPG formats
  • Upload all the other necessary documents mentioned
  • Proceed to pay the application form fee
  • (The payment of the fee can be done through online mode only either through Credit/ Debit/ Net banking mode)
  • Download the printed copy of the Online Application Form and Payment Slip

Points to be Noted

1. For identity purpose, the Aadhar Card is not mandatory. While filling the identification field, candidates can provide either of the following IDs as proofs.

  • Bank Account Number
  • Passport Number
  • Aadhar Card
  • Ration Card Number

2. Any other government identification number that is valid

3. There is no limit to the number of attempts.

4. Candidates are advised to carry at least 4 printout copies of Confirmation Slip.

5. Aspirants are not required to send the application form and the documents to the NTA NEET offices.

6. Candidates who have qualified their 10+2 in science stream and B.Sc., with either of Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology as a subject of study with minimum aggregate marks are also eligible for taking the examination.

7. The syllabus will comprise the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as that of class 11th and class 12th CBSE pattern.

8. The duration of the examination will be 3 hours and held in Offline mode.

9. The total marks of the examination are 720 with 180 marks for Physics and Chemistry each and 360 for Biology.

10. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. Correct answers will be given +4 whereas, an incorrect answer will be deducted -1. However, no marks will be deducted for answers left unattempted.

11. No fees will be refunded by NTA.

Documents necessary

Candidates must keep the following documents handy while filling the Online Application form:

  • Class 10th and Class 12th Marksheets.
  • Scanned Copy of Recently clicked Passport size photograph (Format – JPG, Size from 10 Kb to 100 Kb).
  • Scanned Copy of Signature (Format – JPG, Size from 3 Kb to 20 Kb).
  • Identity Proof – Aadhar Card or Voter ID.

NEET 2019 Application Form Correction

Candidates will be given only one opportunity for editing the mistakes in the application form. The corrections for NEET application form is likely to be held in the second week of March, however, no official notification is released for the same.

The following points have to be followed by filling the application form.

  • The corrections can be made within 5 to 6 days.
  • They must log in using the Registration ID and password.
  • The following fields cannot be corrected in the application form: Date of Birth, The state code of eligibility, Disability status, Category, Medium of language, Examination center, Gender.
  • Fields that affect merit and candidature will be allowed for correction.

Download of Admit Card 2019

NTA will release the Admit Card 2019 from April 15, 2019, and will be open until the date of examination on May 05, 2019. Candidates are advised to keep the copy of Application Payment Receipt and the Printed copy of Filled in Application Form safely as it is required for future references.
