The IBPS clerk syllabus is very important for your exam preparation. Here all the topics in syllabus are provided for both IBPS clerk prelims and mains exam. In your preparation complete all the topics. Only then you can secure high marks in the exam. The total vacancy released for this year is 12075. With increase in vacancy, candidates use this opportunity to become a banker in the public sector bank.
The IBPS clerk syllabus for the prelims and mains exam are almost same. There will be only some minor changes. Candidates take note of the syllabus and start your preparation according to the study plan. Already the IBPS clerk apply online link has been activated. The final date for the submission of the online application form is 9-10-2019. So candidates apply for the exam before the last date.
IBPS Clerk Selection Process
The selection process of the IBPS clerk includes 2 stages namely
- Online Preliminary exam
- Online Mains exam
Only the candidates who clear the prelims exam can take the mains exam. The prelims exam has both the sectional and overall cut offs. The mains exam is the final round. The candidates clearing the mains exam will get the provisional allotment order. There is no interview for this IBPS clerk selection process.
IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern
- The IBPS clerk preliminary exam consists of 3 sections namely the English language, quantitative aptitude and the reasoning ability.
- 20 minutes of sectional timing is given for each section. So you cannot swap between the sections. Only if the current section ends, you can move on to the next section.
- The total marks for the exam is100 marks. For each correct answer you will get 1 mark. The negative marking for each wrong answer is 0.25. So don’t mark the answers by fluke. It may affect your overall score.
- The marks in the prelims exam will not be considered for the final merit list preparation.
- You have to clear both the sectional and overall cut-offs to take the mains exam.

Mains Exam Pattern
- The IBPS clerk mains exam has 4 sections. They are English language, reasoning ability & computer aptitude, data interpretation & analysis and general economy & banking awareness.
- As there is sectional timing you cannot swap between the sections.
- Negative marking is 1/4th of the marks assigned to each wrong answer.
- The marks obtained in this exam are considered for the calculation of the final cut off. The candidates who clear the mains exam will get the provisional allotment order.
